Beautiful. Tough too, but just beautiful. Sure, it’s just a ridge, but being able to put yourself at a point so far above an area you’re familiar with is fantastic. Our first 4 mile hike and the elevation gained was 568ft, which seems small to me now, but was a climb for us then.



After finishing this one in under 2 hours, we knew that we had to do the extended version sometime that goes to the Rim Rock Trail with another vantage point and then continues into Blue Sky Trail. It can either take you north to Horsetooth Reservoir or south to Devil’s Backbone. Both are great options and almost equal in distance and lack of shade.
